I was cleaning my car (stationary in driveway) on 11/3/2019 and noticed a piece of plastic on the floorboard. I looked up to see where it might have came from and noticed the driver seat headrest was separating. I attempted to push the two pieces back together and the headrest fully deployed. Upon inspection i could see that the clip that holds a metal pin had failed. The plastic piece i found was part of this clip.…

The head rest pop open put of no where. Try to explain this to them and no one is willing to help. However after doing my research, i found out i'm not the only one with the problem and that is very common. When i brought this up to their attention i was told that there is not a recall on it so therefore they won't be able to help.

The driver headrest active head restraint safety device deployed without warning during normal driving. There was no impact, etc., that would cause the device to deploy. The device errantly deployed. The headrest came in sharp and sudden contact with the rear of my head while in motion on a city street, not turning. Through online research i noted that this seems to be a common issue.

The front passenger head rest suddenly and violently popped open while in motion on a straight, smooth, city street without any outside force being applied to it. If anyone had been sitting there, it would have jolted the person's head forward. I worry that this will also happen to the driver's side at some point. This is a safety issue.

No damage had occurred to the vehicle, no large bumps or curbs were hit. Luckily we were stopped and no injury occurred.
